Jennylyn Mercado’s manager, Becky Aguila, has come to the defense of the actress following Patrick Garcia’s statement regarding his past relationship with the the Kapuso star.
Writing as a mother figure to Jennylyn rather than just her talent manager, Becky expressed shock and disappointment over Patrick recent tell-all interview with Ogie Diaz 18 years after his controversial breakup with the actress.
“Nakakabigla naman pasabog mo. I am posting this, not as Jen’s manager, but as her second mom,” wrote Becky.
Becky questioned why Patrick resorted to a public interview instead of directly reaching out to her, Jennylyn, and Dennis Trillo to discuss his concerns privately.
“Me concerns ka pala sana nag reach out ka na lang sa akin at maayos natin nailatag to with Jen and Dennis at madali naman sila kausap,” she furthered.
She called out Patrick for using the interview to shield his daughter from online bashers, pointing out that doing so harmed Jennylyn and their son, Alex Jazz, while overlooking his own past shortcomings as a father.
“Ayokong makasakit at makasira ng image pero nasasaktan ako for Jen. Sa dami ng pagkukulang mo ke Jen lalo na kay Jazz, mas inintindi mo pa magpa interview to protect your daughter from bashers at the expense of Jen and Jazz. Nakalimutan mo yata that she is the mother of your child.”
She noted that Jennylyn kept silent for years out of respect for Patrick and his current family, whereas Patrick’s version of events contains omissions and exaggerations.
“There are a lot of things you did to hurt her, and never niya kwinento yun sa iba bilang respeto sa iyo at tatay ka ng anak ninyo at para sa pamilya mo rin na nananahimik na.
“Pero lahat yun naalala ko.
“Pasensya na Patrick pero yung truth mo maraming kulang at dagdag. Nanahimik na nanay mo, binuhay mo ulit ang issue and this is all on you.
“I hope nakatulong nga ito sa daughter mo. And hopefully you are satisfied with all the things you’ve done. All I can say is that you never deserved Jen’s love in the first place.
“And you will never earn my respect.
Meanwhile, Becky’s daughter, Katrina, also took to social media to share Jennylyn’s dedication and resilience as a single mother following the birth of Jazz, her son with Patrick.
Driven by the need to support Jazz and her family, Jennylyn returned to work just one month after giving birth, even traveling to the United States to sing in various restaurants to earn a living.
“I was a teenager then, but I remember how hard she worked to provide a stable future for Jazz. She was a single mother, you can see that she was having a hard time, but she persevered. She is that strong of a person,” wrote Katrina.
“Since she was a little girl, she already experienced so many hardships, but despite all that, she was able to survive and be a better person.
“She deserves all the love in the world. We love you Jen,” she furthered.
Patrick Garcia recently broke his 18-year silence regarding his 2008 breakup with Jennylyn Mercado during an interview on Ogie Diaz’s YouTube channel.
He denied allegations that he abandoned Jennylyn during her pregnancy with their son, Alex Jazz, claiming he was absent because she preferred not to have him involved.
Patrick explained that he decided to share his side after his 13-year-old daughter, Michelle—whom he shares with wife Nikka Martinez—faced persistent online bashing over his past and encouraged him to speak the truth.
In response, Jennylyn Mercado released an official statement through Aguila Entertainment declining to give interviews or share her version of events out of respect for both families’ privacy while asking the public to stop attacking Patrick’s family, especially his daughter, Michelle.
