MMDA announces traffic schemes, to deploy 1,000 personnel for MMFF 2025 ‘Parade of Stars’

Motorists are advised to expect traffic disruptions in parts of Pasay and Makati on Friday as authorities roll out traffic measures for the Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) “Parade of Stars.”

The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) announced that temporary lane closures and a stop-and-go traffic scheme will be implemented to accommodate the annual parade, which will be hosted by the city of Makati this year.

Traffic adjustments will be in place from 12:01 p.m. until 10 p.m. along key roads where the Parade of Stars will pass through, including Macapagal Boulevard, Senator Gil Puyat Avenue (Buendia), Ayala Avenue, Makati Avenue, J.P. Rizal Street, and A. Reyes Avenue, before concluding at Circuit Makati.

Under the traffic plan, selected lanes will be halted intermittently to allow the parade convoy to pass, after which traffic flow will resume.

The northbound portion of Macapagal Boulevard will be occupied by movie-themed floats, tents, the holding area, and the main stage, while spectators at the parade’s starting point will be positioned on the southbound side of the road.

To manage traffic and ensure public safety, the MMDA will deploy around 1,000 personnel from various units, including traffic enforcers, motorcycle and mobile patrol teams, towing and impounding groups, road emergency responders, public safety officers, and clearing and traffic engineering teams.

Motorists are also encouraged to plan their trips ahead of time and take alternative routes.

Vehicles coming from Macapagal Boulevard, the Mall of Asia complex, or Cavite may pass through Seaside Boulevard and Diokno Boulevard, with options leading to Atang De la Rama Street or Gil Puyat Avenue Extension.

Those traveling from EDSA may divert from J.P. Rizal Avenue via A. Bonifacio Street and Zamora Street before crossing Commando Bridge.

The procession is expected to last about one hour and 40 minutes, covering a total distance of 8.4 kilometers.

Following the parade, attendees will have the opportunity to interact with the cast of MMFF films, capped by a program and live performances at Circuit Makati.

This year’s MMFF features eight film entries. The Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) has classified most of the lineup as family-friendly, with the majority earning either General Patronage (G) or Parental Guidance (PG) ratings.
