Local artist Kevin Raymundo, better known online as “Tarantadong Kalbo,” was hospitalized after experiencing a transient ischemic attack (TIA).

On Wednesday, Oct. 8, Kevin announced the news on his social media pages.

“Kevin, Tarantadong Kalbo, was urgently rushed to the hospital on the evening of October 5 and was diagnosed with a transient ischemic attack (TIA),” his post read.

According to medical websites, a TIA is a brief episode with stroke-like symptoms caused by a temporary blockage of blood flow to the brain.

While often referred to as a “mini stroke” and typically lasting only a few minutes without causing long-term damage, it is considered both a “warning” for a “future stroke” and a “chance” to prevent it.

Kevin also appealed for financial help as he continues to receive critical medical care.

“We’re calling for donations to ask for your support in helping cover the costs of medical treatment, lab tests, and medicine, etc. Your generosity and prayers are deeply appreciated. Maraming salamat!”, the cartoonist wrote.

He also posted photos of his treatments on his personal Facebook page with the caption, “Ayun na nga.”

The content creator, with over 698,000 followers on Facebook, is widely known for his parody and political satire artworks that often tackle social and political issues.

His “Tumindig” piece was recognized in the “Content For General Public” category at the 2022 Good Design Awards for its “high appeal” and “accessibility” as a social movement.
