Nagsalita na si Ellis Co, anak ni Ako Bicol Representative Zaldy Co, patungkol sa isyu na kinasasangkutan ng kanyang ama kaugnay sa mga maanomalyang flood control projects.
Sa statement na inilabas ni Ellis sa kanyang Instagram account nitong September 24, sinabi nito na mariin niyang kinukundena ang anumang uri ng korapsyon.
“I condemn corruption in all its forms. I understand the anger and disgust. The hate is MORE than valid. And for the past few weeks, l’ve been having an internal conflict between my morals and my family. I am only speaking out now because I needed the time to have a firm grasp of the situation,” saad niya.
Kaugnay nito, hinimok din ni Ellis ang kanyang ama na umuwi na ng Pilipinas at harapin ang mga akusasyon laban sa kanya.
“I urge him to appear before the people and be accountable once and for all. I am not just speaking out against a politician; I am speaking out against my father. And if this decision gets me disowned, I would rather face that consequence than watch millions of people suffer from his actions,” pahayag niya.
“To my father, come home and answer to the people. Have your time in court. People need answers,” mensahe nito sa kanyang ama.
Matatandaan na naunang naiulat na nasa United States umano si Zaldy para sa kanyang “medical treatment.”
Samantala, nito lamang September 18 ay ni-revoke naman ni House Speaker Faustino “Bojie” Dy III ang travel clearance ni Zaldy, at inatasan siya nitong umuwi ng Pilipinas sa loob ng sampung araw.
Sa kasalukuyan ay hindi pa rin umuuwi sa Pilipinas ang nasabing congressman.
Sa kabilang banda, sinabi naman ni Ellis na hangad niya na lumabas na ang katotohanan.
“I am deeply ashamed, and I wish for nothing but the truth to come out. There is no excuse. I firmly believe that anyone who is proven guilty of these crimes should be held accountable and should face the proper consequences. That includes my dad,” wika niya.
“I want to express my deepest sympathies to the people who have mobilized and stood up against corruption in the streets. I am with you, I am on your side,” pagpapatuloy pa niya.
