Family member shares how kid’s love to his sick dad helped him recover after an accident

This story yet again proves how love and support can help a sick person recover.

Ma. Fatima Joy Madayag recalled how her nephew, Malik, helped her sick brother, Balong, recover from the effects of a motorcycle accident last October 2024.

“‘Yung power of voice ni Malik. Tapos, nakiusap kami kung pwede makapasok siya para makita naman niya ‘yung tatay niya,” she said in an exclusive interview.

Fatima recalled what happened to Balong after he got into an accident at around 5 AM last October 15, 2024, in Zamboanga City.

Balong was immediately taken to the nearest hospital after sustaining minor injuries. He then was discharged from the hospital a few hours after.

Since Fatima was working as a nurse, she was shocked that her brother was sent home.

“Two hours after nasa bahay na siya.

He then went back to the hospital for further examination.

Ha? Ganon, ganon, kabilis? Parang kanina lang, ganito, ganyan. Sana naagapan ba ng morning pa lang?” she narrated.

To their surprise, Balong experienced internal bleeding from the accident.

“CPR ongoing for a total of 30 minutes. Nung on the way sila papuntang operating room. After 7 days, nag-expand din ‘yung lungs niya. So, na-remove din ‘yung  chest tube niya. Since ‘yung duration po ng CPR is 30 minutes. So, it’s very, ano ho, kasi kapag more than, usually, kapag more than 5 minutes, the longer the duration ng CPR, the longer the extent ng damage sa brain,” she noted.

Fatima’s family believes that there was a medical negligence that resulted in the worsening condition of her brother.

“He is really conscious and in severe pain.

Their family had no choice but to continue fighting for Balong’s life. They helped one another to take care of him for months in the hospital.

His son Malik also played a vital role in the recovery of his father.

‘”Yung family niya is very supportive, kahit pinapirmahan na po kami ng waiver ng doktor. Sinabihan na rin kami na anytime baka mag-arrest ulit or kung masu-survive naman lang daw ng kapatid namin is magiging vegetative state lang siya. Syempre, hindi kami nawawalan ng pag-asa kasi alam talaga namin fighter ‘yung kapatid namin,” she said.

And also, ‘yung will power po ng kapatid namin na gumaling, gustung-gusto niya.”
