The Philippine National Police (PNP) has declared that it did “not authorize” any fitness instructor to lead a weight loss program for the entire organization, days after online personality Rendon Labador announced his involvement with the local police force.
This comes after Labador shared his position to help improve PNP’s Police Community Affairs and Development Group (PCADG) current wellness programs, after being reportedly approached by PCADG chief Brig. Gen. Marvin Joe Saro during his visit to Camp Crame.
At the time, the vlogger mentioned that he would lead his own program, along with nutritional plans made with the help of professional nutritionists.
In a memorandum issued June 21, PNP Directorate for Police Community Relations head Maj. Gen. Roderick Augustus Alba clarified that the physical fitness event was launched exclusively by the PCADG and included only their personnel, not the entire PNP.
The statement read: “In this regard, PNP personnel are directed to refrain from sharing misleading content. The Chief PNP has not authorized any fitness instructor to primarily lead a weight loss program for the entire PNP. Social media officers should exercise caution in posting and sharing content to avoid spreading misinformation that may cause confusion.”
Additionally, PNP spokesperson Brig. Gen. Jean Fajardo asserted that she has no personal knowledge regarding the appointment of Labador as the fitness coach for the organization, but expressed that any individual is encouraged to assist police officers in achieving their weight and fitness goals in line with Gen. Nicolas Torre III’s directive for stricter fitness standards within the police force.
