Freddie Aguilar’s 28-year-old wife Jovie Gatdula Albao penned a short message as she bid goodbye to the legendary OPM singer-songwriter.

On Facebook, Jovie wrote: “I will live a good life so I can meet you in Jannah. Inna Lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji’un,” (To Allah we belong, and to Allah we shall return).

“This is not goodbye, just farewell for now. Mahal na mahal kita, hanggang sa muli bhabe. It was a good fight, because we are fighting together,” she added.

Aguilar faced controversy in 2013 after converting to Islam to marry Jovie.

The singer-songwriter’s death was confirmed by George Briones, general counsel of Partido Federal ng Pilipinas where Aguilar had served as national executive vice president.

Aguilar’s former partner, Josephine Queipo, revealed in an interview with Fast Talk With Boy Abunda that the OPM icon died of multiple organ failure at the Philippine Heart Center on Tuesday.

He was laid to rest at the Manila Islamic South Cemetery on the same day, in accordance with the Islamic belief that the deceased must be buried within 24 hours of death.
