Kris Aquino has edited her latest post detailing her relationship with her ex-partner Dr. Mike Padlan after the latter’s son has spoken up in defense of his father.
The well-known TV host took to Instagram on March 16 to share details about her recent heartbreak while updating fans about her health.
“During this time of uncertainty, I choose to share MY PAINFUL TRUTH, the doctor I loved left me because he wanted the freedom to travel, to break free from needing to care for & the reality of KRIS AQUINO who had multiplying autoimmune diseases w/ so few treatment options,” Aquino’s original post read.
“Enough time has passed: he did not love me. In my defense, he did receive the correct professional fees – even when we were a couple. End of that chapter (never akong natakot umamin ng katotohanan),” she revealed.
She also quoted her former partner’s words which has now been removed from her post, stating: “INIWAN KITA DAHIL MAHIRAP KANG MAHALIN, sobrang sikip ng paligid.”
In response to Kris’ story, Miguel Padlan, son of Dr. Padlan, has spoken up in defense of his father following Aquino’s revelations about their breakup.
In a Facebook post, Miguel urged the public to stop spreading “false stories” about his father, explaining that while the relationship ended, it was not due to a lack of love.
“I am the son of Dr. Padlan, and I am speaking up because I love my father. I cannot remain silent while false stories are being spread about him,” he wrote.
“It is disheartening to see how some people twist the truth and create baseless narratives that only cause unnecessary drama. I kindly ask everyone to stop spreading lies and fabricating stories that are unfair and misleading,” Miguel added.
He clarified that the split was caused by a fading connection, not because his father did not love Kris.
“The truth is simple yes, my father and Mama Kris separated because the spark between them was gone. However, that does not mean my father never loved her. He truly did,” Miguel explained.
“Their relationship was real, and he cared deeply for her. But love alone is not always enough to make a relationship last forever. Sometimes, two people are simply not meant to be together in the long run, no matter how much they once loved each other.”
Miguel also shared that he and his siblings felt neglected during the relationship, as their father frequently traveled to be with Aquino, sometimes at the cost of his financial stability and professional practice. However, he stressed that Dr. Padlan never asked Aquino for anything.
“He gave so much of his time and energy to her, even at the cost of his own well-being. There were times when he had little to no money left and was losing patients at his clinic, yet he still chose to be with her,” he shared his father’s efforts for Kris.
Miguel also emphasized that his father never sought financial assistance from Kris, seemingly addressing her statement about paying him for his care.
“However, let me make one thing clear-my father never asked her for anything. He never begged for money or gifts. Whatever Mama Kris gave-whether financial support or presents-she did so out of her own kindness and generosity,” he described his father’s efforts for Kris.
Despite their personal struggles, Miguel expressed continued respect for Kris and only asked that she not spread misleading stories about his father.
“My respect for Mama Kris remains immense because my father truly loved her. It may hurt to admit that my siblings and I sometimes felt neglected by our father, but we understand-Mama Kris needed him, and we respected that. All we ask is that she does not spread stories that are untrue. My father’s friends and patients know who he truly is, and they can attest to his character,” he wrote.
“We love you, Mama Kris, and we love our father as well,” concluded Miguel’s message.
Following Miguel’s statement, Kris later edited her post to remove some details about their split and emphasized her affection for Dr. Padlan’s children.
She reiterated that he left when her autoimmune conditions worsened and clarified that he was properly compensated for his services.
“Time has passed: DR. M did not love me. He chose to leave when my autoimmune conditions were multiplying. In my defense the MD received the correct professional fees- even when we were a couple. Alvin is calculating if he is still owed more,” she wrote in her revised post.
Kris explained that she edited her statement out of respect for Dr. Padlan’s children, whom she deeply cares for.
“I edited because there are 2 children whom I LOVE; they will remain in my heart. BIMB is my source of strength, while M and M made me smile, laugh, and value life’s simple pleasures.”
She also acknowledged that she may no longer see his children grow up but assured them that she fulfilled her promises to them.
Reflecting on her past relationship, Kris admitted that she clung too tightly but had no regrets about loving wholeheartedly, “INIWAN KITA, masikip ang paligid”—my prayer now is that we leave others out of our failure. I did cling & asked for too much because YOU RESTORED MY HOPE, WHEN IN YOUR ARMS I DID FEEL SAFE.
“I don’t regret loving you completely. Sanay akong mabigo,” Aquino lamented about their relationship.
