Vinci, leader of the all-Filipino global group HORI7ON, reflected on his journey as the group’s leader and how it continues to hone him as a mentor on a K-pop survival show.
The 24-year-old idol recently won STARcast Exclusives’ P-pop leader poll “Leading By Example: The Leader Showdown”, besting 26 other nomineees.
“I’m very grateful na as an artist, I’m being appreciated and being acknowledged by our fans,” Vinci said in a STARcast Exclusive interview after accepting his award.
With his fans’ dedication, Vinci garnered 19,729,610 “Stars” through the Juancast app.
HORI7ON consists of seven members: Vinci, Jeromy, Marcus, Kyler, Reyster, Kim, and Winston.The all-Filipino group was formed through the survival show “Dream Maker,” a collaboration between ABS-CBN, MLD Entertainment, and KAMP Korea.
According to Vinci, being a leader is not an easy task and “comes with a lot of bumps in the road.” But he is one to balance between being strict and keeping things light and fun with his members.
On managing the group, Vinci makes sure to understand each member equally and listen to their concerns. He also emphasized the importance of learning to live with the differences and personalities within the group.
The biggest lesson he’s learned through his journey from being a trainee to an idol is the power of passion: “If you put your passion into something, people will see it.”
“It’s our fans, our Anchors,” who always let us know that we’re being seen, or we’re being acknowledged through our performances or simple appearances,” Vinci said, emphasizing the fans’ huge role in recognizing the group’s effort and dedication in their craft.
Vinci also shared how his experiences from being a trainee, to an idol, and now, a mentor helped him gain a newfound confidence.
“I’m more confident that I am confident,” said Vinci as he humorously rates his self-confidence now being at “11/10”.
