Veteran journalist Ces Drilon is set to join One News as an anchor of its primetime newscast, “The Big Story,” beginning March 3.
On Wednesday afternoon, Drilon formalized her new position by signing a contract with News5, Cignal TV, and MediaQuest executives in Mandaluyong City.
In her interview with One News, Ces looked forward to sharing her “experience” and “institutional knowledge” to her audience.
“Kasi nagsimula ako hindi pa nagpi-People Power Revolution, so imagine yung mga napagdaanan, nacover-an, nagawan ng istorya,” Drilon emphasized on her decades-long exposure in the field of journalism.
“Importante [‘yung] context. Ngayon parang kulang na ‘yan sa pagbabalita ‘e, ‘yung konstekto ng mga pangyayari,” she added.
When asked about the possibility of having her own show on the channel, Ces spoke about having a dedicated segment within The Big Story titled “Ces-stainability”. The segment will explore the importance of sustainable living to avoid harming the planet and future generations
“Importanteng-importante yung mabuhay tayo na hindi tayo nakakadagdag sa pag-harm sa ating planeta, sa ating bayan. Gusto ko maging champion n’yan lalong lalo na issue ‘to ng mga nakababata sa atin because in the end they will be the ones left ‘di ba?,” the news anchor explained, adding the need to break down the concept of sustainability to make it more understandable.
She will be joining an all-female team of anchors that includes Shawn Yao, Regina Lay, and Pauline Versoza, taking over the role previously held by Gretchen Ho, who recently transitioned to One News’ morning program, “Morning Matters.”
Starting on Monday, March 3, Ces will be joining fellow anchors Shawn Yao, Regina Lay, and Pauline Versoza and will replace Gretchen Ho who recently signed off from the program and transferred to the revamped morning block with her program “Morning Matters”.
Drilon is currently the host of the magazine show “Usapang Bilyonaryo” on the Bilyonaryo News Channel. The show recently secured a renewal for its third season.
