The Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) denied claims that controversial filmmaker Darryl Yap’s “Pepsi Paloma” film is under review.
In a press statement, MTRCB said the film is not being reviewed due to incomplete requirements from the distributor, Pinoyflix.
“To set the record straight, the MTRCB Registration Unit could not accept the materials submitted by the representative of Pinoyflix because the Legal Affairs Division required the distributor to provide three specific requirements such as Certificate or Clearance of No Pending Criminal, Civil, or Administrative Case from the Regional Trial Court, the Department of Justice, and the Office of the City Prosecutor,” stated the government agency.
The MTRCB called the attention of Pinoyflix and Entertainment Production to follow the standard review process and ensure compliance with P.D. 1986, which governs the regulation of films and television content in the Philippines.
The MTRCB follows a strict two-stage review process: one that’s conducted by a three-member committee and another by a five-member committee.
“Each film undergoes a rigorous and meticulous review process that evaluates every detail against the standards set by Presidential Decree No. 1986.,” said MTRCB.
The MTRCB also condemn the spread of misinformation, saying it will take legal action if necessary.
The MTRCB will not tolerate any misinformation or false narrative that seek to discredit the Agency and undermine its mandate to protect the public interest. Any attempt to deliberately mislead the public will be dealt with in accordance with the law.
Meanwhile, the Muntinlupa Regional Trial Court recently released its decision to partially grant Vic Sotto’s writ of habeas data petition in his favor, ordering the removal of the teaser for Yap’s film about late actress Pepsi Paloma from all social media platforms.
