Actor Sam Milby expressed his gratitude and relief over his sister, Ada, escaping a near-fatal road accident while riding her motorcycle.
Sam shared photos of him and Ada at the hospital where the latter was confined along with actual videos of the incident captured by other vehicles near the area where the accident happened, which PEP.ph reported took place at the South Luzon Expressway (SLEX) over the holidays.
In his Instagram post, the actor reflected over the incident, thankful for Ada’s safety and recovery but expressed his grief over a civilian’s death from the incident.
“Milagro. Yun ang nangyari sa Ate ko last month. Definitely not the way she wanted to spend the holidays but thank you Lord she is safe and healing,” wrote Sam. “She walked away with no broken bones…. just badly bruised with some stitches (Siya yung nakamotor sa video). but sadly a young man’s life was taken 😔”
He further disclosed that the truck allegedly lost its brakes, causing it to crash into nearby vehicles as seen in the clips shared in his post.
“Nawalan daw ng preno yung truck at parang madalas nangyayari to 🙁 I hope more can be done to force companies to do regular checkups and maintenance for a lot of these older trucks.”
“So glad you’re ok and I love you sis,” he penned to his sibling.
Sam concluded his post by thanking the owners of the dashcam videos that captured the scene.
Many netizens and celebrities flooded Milby’s post with well-wishes for his sister, including the actor’s ex-girlfriend, Catriona Gray.
“Thank God you’re safe and recovering @ada_milby 🙏 Hope to see transportation companies stepping up to ensure safe vehicles on our roads, and the appropriate accountabilty when oversights lead to tragedies such as these. 😔,” the beauty queen wrote to Ada.
“Thank you – I’m still half shocked that actually happened to me. Really hope this can be addressed systematically to prevent unnecessary tragedies like this,” replied Sam’s sister.
