Jam Villanueva, the longtime non-showbiz girlfriend of Anthony Jennings, has spoken out for the first time since the latter confirmed their split.
In an emotional Instagram Story on Tuesday, Villanueva shared her side of the story, reflecting on their nearly seven-year relationship and addressing allegations involving Jenning’s current on-screen partner, Maris Racal.
“Michael, for nearly 7 years I’m so grateful for you being my rock, my best friend, and most especially my partner… Happiness was all I ever wanted for you, in our years of living together. I never imagined I’d have to let you go, but I did—so you could grow and find happiness on your own,” she wrote on Instagram.
Jam revealed screenshots suggesting that Anthony may have been involved with Maris during their relationship. Despite her initial reservations, Villanueva chose to be supportive.
“I allowed this to happen because I thought it was the best way to support them both. Most importantly, I trusted my partner and her—as a woman,” she said.
Villanueva admitted that the experience left her hurt, but she emphasized that she wanted to move forward with strength and hope.
“When Maris came into the picture, I was genuinely happy for you both. I even chose to be supportive, despite the red flags I couldn’t ignore. I respected your craft. I believed in you both,” she explained.
“But betrayal like this cuts deep. This is my truth, and sharing it is my way of moving forward—not with anger, but with strength, hope, and the belief that better days are ahead,” she added.
It can be recalled Maris shocked fans after publicly announcing her split with OPM icon Rico Blanco last July where she also clarified that Anthony was not the reason for the end of their five-year relationship.
Jennings also reiterated that he was not the cause of the couple’s controversial split, and even asserted that he would “admit” it if he was.
Months after the news of the Maris-Rico breakup, the actress was once again embroiled in a controversy after netizens spotted her wearing “couple shoes” with Anthony during their stay in Italy where they were filming their upcoming project together.
Anthony and Maris worked together on the primetime series “Can’t Buy Me Love”, where their pairing name, “MaThon”, rose into popularity.
They are also set to star in the upcoming Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) entry “And The Breadwinner Is” and the anticipated Kapamilya action series “Incognito”.
Neither Jennings nor Racal has released a statement addressing Villanueva’s claims as of this writing.
