Miss Eco International Philippines 2024 Alexie Brooks is grieving the loss of her grandmother, Lola Basing, who raised her since childhood.

On Monday, September 9, Alexie took to Instagram to share the heartbreaking news, posting a photo of them together along with a heartfelt message about the passing of the woman she loved deeply.

“Today, I lost the person I loved more than anything, and the pain is unbearable. I’m at a loss for words,” Alexie wrote.

“Lola, I loved you with everything I had, and now I feel completely shattered and unable to move on. I am heartbroken. God please 💔,” she continued, expressing her grief.

In another emotional post, the beauty queen reflected on her final moments with her grandmother during her visit to Iloilo last month.

“My hands were shaking, my heart was breaking, and tears were falling from my eyes as I wrote. I know in my heart that you were never mine to keep,” she recalled in the letter.

She shared how she had written a letter to her Lola during that time, not realizing it would be the last one she would write while her grandmother was still alive.

“I spent the whole night staring at you, my heart deeply yearning and begging God not to take you away from me.

“Sitting next to you in the middle of the night for what turned out to be the last time few moments, I found the strength to write again. Who would have thought it would be my final letter to you?

Alexie did not specify the cause of her grandmother’s death but emphasized that she will cherish the memories of her Lola Basing, who she credits for shaping her life.

“I am hurt, grieving, and crying; I lost the only person I have ever loved so truly and wholeheartedly. You are my mother, my father, my bestfriend, my mentor, my master teacher, my greatest love.”

“God knows how much I love you and how shattered and broken I am. 💔,” she concluded her message.

Born in the Philippines to an OFW mother and raised by her grandmother in Iloilo, Alexie had a close bond with her Lola, often describing herself as a “certified lola’s girl.”

Heartfelt messages of condolences from her fellow beauty queens and close friends poured into the comments sections of Brook’s posts.
