Singer Iñigo Pascual expressed his support for his ex-girlfriend and former love team partner, Maris Racal, following her breakup with longtime partner, Rico Blanco.
In a report by ABS-CBN News, Iñigo acknowledged the breakup, saying, “I saw it, actually watched it. I feel for her. I know it’s tough.”
Reflecting on the situation, Iñigo added, “But I see it in a good light. She’s getting to know herself. She’s choosing herself. That’s something I’m very proud of.”
Iñigo praised Racal’s courage in her announcement, highlighting her strength. “Choosing one’s self is a hard thing to do. It’s always hard to turn a page and chapter, but it’s out of a good heart,” he said.
He also supported Racal’s honesty in admitting her role in the breakup, stating, “Her expressing that it’s not a third party and anything else, it’s her…and it’s something only the strongest people can do. Minsan, mas mahirap piliin ang sarili mo kaysa sa mga bagay na gusto mo.”
Iñigo relates his own experiences to Maris’s situation, mentioning his move to the United States. “Minsan, you get blinded by the things you want, the things you’re comfortable with. Like me, going to the States, I feel like it’s a parallel situation,” he said, referring to Maris’ interview about her breakup with Rico.
He concluded the interview with a message of encouragement for Maris.
“I’m proud of her… I wanna tell her that I’m happy for her and that she’s choosing to be strong for herself. Hindi madali ‘yun,” the singer said.
Meanwhile, Iñigo admitted that he hasn’t had any communication with Maris for quite some time.
Iñigo and Maris confirmed their relationship in 2017 before parting ways in December 2018. Maris went public with her romance with Rico in May 2021, before announcing their breakup earlier this month.
