Janella Salvador and Jane de Leon, former co-stars from the superhero series “Darna,” have reunited, this time for the music video of the former’s latest song, “Hey You.”
Released alongside her new single early Friday, June 21, the music video premiered on Saturday afternoon at the “Love Laban 2 Everyone” Pride event in Quezon City Memorial Circle, where Salvador performed live.
The music video, reportedly conceptualized by the actress herself, explores a love story where Janella and Jane portray schoolmates who develop romantic feelings for each other.
Reflecting on the challenges faced during the video’s production, Janella expressed relief and gratitude that the project materialized despite numerous obstacles.
“It’s actually my concept talaga, kaya yeah. I wanna cry, I’m so happy it actually happened,” the actress was quoted in an ABS-CBN News report.
“Everything that could go wrong went wrong — location issues, approvals, everything. Even on the shoot day itself, everything went wrong. But I hope you guys like it. I hope it turned out great, and most importantly, I hope it inspires people to make a move and not be shy,” Jane added.
She also extended her appreciation to Jane for collaborating with her sapphic narrative, especially during the celebration of the Pride month.
“I’m so happy that Jane said yes, of course. It means so much to me na she was on board with everything. Sobrang game siya sa lahat,” Janella described Jane’s participation.
“Everything I asked her, everything I asked her to do, kung okay lang ba sa kanya, she was really just down with everything, so I’m so thankful for that.”
“It’s a simple music video, it’s a simple love story, and that’s exactly what I wanted to highlight. Na, simple love deserves to be celebrated din,” she added.
With hopes to continue their on-screen pairing beyond “Hey You,” Janella expressed interest in pursuing a “GL” or girls’ love project with Jane, after their tandem fondly known as “JaneNella” or “Darlentina”, gained popularity as an on-screen pair following their roles as Darna and Valentina in the ABS-CBN superhero TV series “Darna” back in 2022.
“Sana matuloy na ‘yung GL. Sobrang na-excite kami, tapos hindi siya natuloy, we’ve been crying out loud for it,” Janella expresssed hopes to work again with her former co-star.
It can be recalled that on November 2023, the two actresses were reportedly reuniting to star in a new film under the direction of Jun Robles Lana, titled, “How To Be A Good Wife”.
