Netizens were amazed after OPM band Ben&Ben’s song “Kathang Isip” was heard playing at one of the clothing stores in popular South Korean shopping district Myeong-dong in Seoul on Saturday, February 17, 2024.
“Proud Pinoy moment,” a netizen commented.
“That’s because Filipinos are always in Myeong-dong,” another said.
“So hindi kathang-isip ang presyuhan diyan?” a netizen joked.
According to uploader Edwin Vidal, he was shocked upon hearing an OPM song in the famous shopping district in South Korea.
“Usually kasi ‘yung mga pinapatugtog doon mga Kpop songs, kaya natuwa ako na marinig na pinatugtog ‘yung kanta ng Ben&Ben,” he said.
The song gained popularity when it was released in 2017. As of this writing, it has already been played more than 260 million times on audio streaming platform Spotify.
It can be recalled that Korean actor and Astro member Cha Eun Woo also performed the same song during his fan meet at the New Frontier Theater in 2019.
The nine-piece band recently received an award alongside Korean singer Kang Daniel and K-pop group NewJeans at the Asia Artist Award 2023 held in Philippine Arena in Bulacan on December 14, 2023.
