Heart Evangelista shared a touching moment with her mom Cecilia Ongpauco who walked her down the aisle during her renewal of wedding vows with husband Chiz Escudero. Her father, however, was a no-show at the special occasion.
In celebration of their ninth wedding anniversary, Heart and Chiz renewed their marriage vows in an intimate ceremony at the Balesin Island attended by their family and close friends last February 15.
As seen on videographer Bob Nicolas’ recap of Heart and Chiz’s renewal of vows ceremony, Heart’s mom turned emotional as she walked her daughter down the aisle.
“I’m so happy for her. And I’m happier because I am around to witness this. Finally,” Cecilia was quoted as saying in the viedeo, moments before the event.
“Finally, I’ve arrived,” Cecilia said smiling.
Heart followed, “She’s nine years late”. It can be recalled that
“Nine years too late, but made it still,” added Cecilia.
To recall, Heart’s mom and dad Reynaldo Ongpauco “snubbed” her wedding with Chiz back in 2015, after a falling out as they publicly disapproved their relationship. They eventually reconciled and are now on good terms.
Fans, however, noticed the absence of Heart’s father, Reynaldo Ongpauco, in their wedding vows renewal ceremony.
“Congratulations po, sorry to ask po, bakit wala po si daddy?” asked a netizen in the comments section.
Heart did not go into details but simply responded, “He is recovering,” alongside a smiley emoji.
While she keeps them mostly out of the public eye, Heart in 2020, shared a rare photo of her sharing a heartfelt hug with her father when they “made peace” with each other.
