John Lloyd Cruz and Shaina Magdayao attended the 76th Locarno Film Festival in Switzerland for the world premiere of their Lav Diaz movie, Essential Truths of the Lake.
The former couple snapped a photo with their co-star Hazel Orencio as seen on the film’s Instagram update on Monday.
Directed by award-winning filmmaker Lav, Essential Truths of the Lake is part of the film festival’s main competition, Concorso Internazionale.
“What can a good policeman do in the face of Duterte’s murderous wrath? Lt. Papauran fixates on the deep mystery of a cold case he has been trying to solve for years. Great investigators are obsessive visionaries. They are also human beings,” read the film director’s note.
The official Instagram page of the film festival also shared via Instagram story a clip of direk Lav joined by his delegation at the red carpet.
Film Development Council of the Philippines earlier sent its well wishes to Lav and his team in a social media post.
Bart Guingona and Agot Isidro are also part of the cast of Essential Truths of the Lake, which is the only Southeast Asian film in the main competition.
The 76th Locarno Film Festival runs from August 2 to 13, 2023.
