McNeal Briguela, more popularly known as Awra, has come a long way since he shot to fame with his viral wacky videos in 2016.
In broadcast journalist Karen Davila’s recent vlog, Awra gave a tour of one of the fruits of his hardwork in showbiz–his family’s dream house.
“Super happy po, kasi matagal ko na pong pangarap mapatayuan ng ganitong bahay ‘yung family ko,” said Awra who reminisced living at squatter area before.
Aside from their newly built house, Awra also takes pride in how his dad Oneal Briguela persevered to graduate in college at his age.
“Nu’ng time po kasi na iyon, gustong-gusto talaga ni Papa noon ulit na bumalik sa pag-aaral,” the young comedian-actor said when asked why he decided to send his father to school.
“Kasi gusto niyang ipakita sa amin na kahit anong edad mo pa, pwede kang bumalik sa pag-aaral anytime. And gusto niyang patunayan sa amin na sobrang mahalaga talaga yung pag-aaral,” added Awra.
“Nagsimula po ulit ako sa first year college. Thirty-two years old na ako noon. Ako yung pinakamatanda sa batch namin na gumradweyt.
Oneal shared that he was 32 years old, when he went back to being a college student. Despite being the oldest in his batch, the patriarch said he was keen on finishing his studies.
“Noong una po, nahihiya ako, eh. Pero mindset ko, pakapalan na lang ng mukha ito. Kung hindi ko kakapalan ang mukha ko, walang mangyayari,” shared Oneal.
Oneal also stressed how important attaining education was for him. “Na-realize ko po na iba kapag may aral. Iba yung kapag naka-graduate ka. Eh, ayoko naman din naman mangyari sa point na dumating yung mga anak ko sa ganoon.”
Awra, meanwhile, can’t help but recall this proud and touching moment when his father graduated from college in 2019.
“Yung pinaka-nakakatouch, ‘yung ako po yung isa sa umakyat sa stage para bigyan siya ng diploma. Nandoon po ako nang bigyan siya ng diploma.
“Siyempre, nakita ko po noon kung gaano siya kadesididong bumalik ulit sa pag-aaral.Proud na proud po kaming umakyat siya ng stage and nakuha na po niya yung gusto niya talaga.”
