Comedian Alfredo Cornejo Jr., more popularly known as Babajie, passed away on Monday, May 4. He was 35.
According to a GMA News report, Babajie died from tuberculosis and malnutrition at San Lazaro Hospital.
Close relatives of Babajie earlier debunked death rumors after a photo of him confined at San Lazaro hospital surfaced online.
Babajie, who got his screen name from his long chin, was known for his stint in the GMA gag show Bubble Gang.
Last year, Babajie was featured in Kapuso Mo Jessica Soho after photos of him with his Italian friend Ciro Tarallo went viral online.
Ciro Tarallo, in a series of posts on Facebook, shared throwback photos and clips to mourn the passing of his dear friend.
“GOODBYES IS NOT FOREVER
GOODBYES ARE NOT THE END
THEY SIMPLY MEAN I’LL MISS YOU
UNTIL WE MEET AGAIN….???,” Tarallo wrote.
Babajie’s cousin Cid Cornejo also paid him an online tribute.
