Good karma: Kind cop gets P100,000 reward after giving $100 to working student

The Good Samaritan policeman who gave a $100 (P5,000) bill instead of a violation ticket to a working student he reprimanded at a quarantine checkpoint received P100,000 from an anonymous donor.

Police Corporal Sirjon Nacino earlier went viral after handing over personal money to food delivery driver Joshua Basa whom he caught for a minor traffic violation along España Boulevard in Manila last week.

In a Facebook post, Basa said he initially got scolded by the police officer, until he told him he was a working student trying to make ends meet.

Touched by Basa’s story, Nacino pulled something from his wallet while the former thought he was being issued a ticket. To the young man’s surprise, the police officer handed him a $100 bill along with the advice to finish his studies.

Para kapag ang tao naman ang tinulungan mo, umasenso rin, makatulong din siya sa ibang kapwa,” said Nacino in a 24 Oras report when asked why he offered help to the delivery rider.

In the 24 Oras report, the anonymous donor who admired Nacino for his good deed sent the cash through Nacino’s superiors at the Manila Police District.
