No, it didn’t make it.
Make It With You, topbilled by Liza Soberano and Enrique Gil, isn’t among the ABS-CBN drama series coming back on air via the new Kapamilya Channel on cable and satellite TV starting June 13.
In a series of tweets, TV director Theodore Boborol confirmed the show’s cancellation which was earlier revealed by Liza’s talent manager Ogie Diaz on social media.
“Alam na po ito ng lahat ng cast, lalo na ng LizQuen. Alam kong nabitin kayo sa love story nina Billie at Gabo, kaya hintayin na lamang po ang pagbabalik ng loveteam sa isa pang bagong teleserye,” Ogie said in a Facebook post.
“Believe me. It was also difficult for everyone,” direk Theodore wrote of the cancellation.
He reasoned that the series won’t be returning because ABS-CBN was not only hit by the pandemic but also suffered “a double blow” when its 25-year congressional franchise expired.
“Decisions had to be made and we respect and understand why it ought to be done,” he added.
According to direk Theodore, Make It With You is not the only one that got axed. He requested fans to support the new programs to be launched.
He also retweeted a photo that seemingly foretold of things to come. It was a “family photo” of the cast right before the implementation of the community quarantine, which would turn out to be their last taping day.
“At that time, I really felt the world will never be the same,” he tweeted.
On March 15, the network temporarily suspended the staging of live shows and production of teleseryes in compliance with the declaration of a community quarantine and ban on mass gatherings to contain the spread of the COVID-19.
In lieu of primetime shows, ABS-CBN then aired reruns of classic teleseryes and iWant original series.
On May 5, the National Telecommunications Commission ordered ABS-CBN to halt its TV and radio broadcast operations a day after its 25-year license to operate expired.
“Encouraged by the overwhelming love and support of the public, ABS-CBN Corporation remains committed to serving its audiences even amidst the COVID-19 pandemic and after it was ordered to stop operating its radio and television stations in the Philippines on May 5, 2020 by the Philippine National Telecommunications Commission (NTC),” the media giant said in a statement on June 4.
“The new and returning programs will be seen in the Philippines on the new Kapamilya Channel, on cable and satellite TV that are owned and operated by other companies and are not covered by the cease and desist order issued by the NTC to ABS-CBN.”
Based on the ABS-CBN media release about the soon-to-be-launched Kapamilya Channel, only the teleseryes FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano, A Soldier’s Heart and Love Thy Woman are returning to television.
Also airing via the Kapamilya Channel are the variety and musical shows It’s Showtime and ASAP Natin ‘To, as well as the morning show Magandang Buhay and news program TV Patrol.
New offerings, on the other hand, are public affairs programs Paano Kita Mapasasalamatan and Iba Yan, to be hosted by actresses Judy Ann Santos and Angel Locsin, respectively.
