Kapuso actress-host Pokwang stood her ground amid the counter-affidavit filed by her former live-in-partner Lee O’ Brian against her deportation and visa cancellation complaints.
The comedienne took to social media her stand regarding Lee’s responses to the cases she previously filed against him.
With the help of her legal counsel Atty. Ralph Calinisan, Pokwang aired her statement on Instagram on Monday, June 26.
The caption in the Instagram story read: “We maintain that Mr. William Lee O’Brian must be deported immediately from the Philippines. Undesirable aliens have no place in this country. With this case we are pursuing, we are putting a stop to the gross manipulation of Philippine immigration laws and the acts of abuse against our client, Ms. Marietta Subong.”
Noting at the end of the statement, “The Philippines must be a safe place for everyone, especially us Filipinos,”
On Wednesday, June 28, Pokwang seemingly took a swipe again at Lee in an interaction between her and a netizen.
In a comment on one of her Instagram posts, the netizen said, “Sabi ni kano, sana daw, ‘wag tignan ang kasikatan mo ng immigration para pumanig sa’yo. He believes daw na pakikinggan ng immigration ang side niya. Overstay siya kaya dapat, deport siya.”
To which Pokwang replied: “Kapal ng mukha, diba? Pinangungunahan ang batas natin?”
Pokwang filed a deportation complaint and cancellation of visa against Lee last June 13. Her camp claimed that Lee had been using “a tourist visa” while working in the country for several years.
Lee responded to her petition with a counter-affidavit and made an appeal to the Bureau of Immigration (BI) to be fair with his deportation and visa cancellation cases, noting his former partner’s fame and influence in the country.
The two met in 2014 as co-stars in the dramedy film Edsa Woodworth. They ended their relationship several months before Pokwang confirmed her split with Lee in July 2022. Their daughter, Malia Francine O’ Brian, was born in January 2018.
From then on, Pokwang has then repeatedly taken swipes at her Lee for his lack of parental and financial support for their daughter.
