Gabbi Garcia couldn’t help but feel sentimental when she finally shared the story behind her first Swiss luxury watch – a Rolex.
On her most recent YouTube upload, the actress shared how her mom had advised her of how great of an investment a watch is.
Years later, she gave in to her mom and her watch enthusiast boyfriend Khalil Ramos’ suggestion for her to buy her first watch.
Gabbi mentioned that acquiring a luxury watch from its branches in Manila was no joke and that she was waitlisted for three to four months before she decided to purchase from a private seller.
“Yung mga watch enthusiasts, alam nila ‘yan na you would have to line up and wait for them to contact you if you want a certain model, and it’s no joke guys,” she said.
She then presented her first Rolex watch, a Datejust with a diamond dial and jubilee bracelet.
According to Wristwatch.com, a Rolex Datejust costs anywhere from $7,200 to $14,800 (or from P367,506 to P755,429, based on Wednesday’s exchange rate).
When purchasing from a private seller, following Khalil’s recommendation, she advised her viewers to get the complete set with the box and its paper bag.
“I’m sharing this with you, guys, para kung sino man nanunuod nito baka this can also serve as an inspiration to you kasi Khalil told me na every time I look at this watch, it’s a symbol of my hard work,” she explained.
She continued on to share that her first Rolex is an inspiration for her to continue working, even when things get rough.
“Never in my life na naisip ko na I would be able to purchase one. It never crossed my mind so it’s really a symbol of hard work and inspiration yung tipong ayaw mo na tapos pag nakita mo yung watch parang, ‘Okay, work tayo,’” she ended.
