Maxene Magalona opened up on her journey from being a “toxic and alcoholic party girl” to a vegan yogi, owing her transformation to her husband Rob Mananquil.
In an Instagram post, the actress expressed how grateful she is to have married a yoga teacher.
“Who would’ve thought that from being a toxic and alcoholic party girl with low self esteem and no sense of direction, I actually became a vegan yogi?” she said.
Maxene said her husband has always been her source of strength and inspiration just by how he lives his life.
“While I was stuck in the prison of my negative mind and ego, he patiently showed me how to navigate through my shadows and find the light,” she said.
“Every time I take his class, I feel my anxieties melting away because his positive energy is so contagious. He makes me forget about the unnecessary worries of life as he always encourages his students to keep staying in the present moment and just have faith in God,” she added.
The 33-year-old emphasized that Rob was the one who helped her heal and taught her the true meaning of life.
In a recent Instagram post, the actress shared how therapy, daily yoga, meditation and prayer helped her understand and express her feelings.
“I used to think that because of all my mistakes and poor decisions in the past that I didn’t deserve to be happy. I even thought that losing my dad was God’s way of teaching me a lesson,” she opened up.
She wrote that she used to turn to alcohol and partying to cope but now she has learned to deal with her feelings instead of repressing them.
On May 20, she shared that she dealt with bouts of anxiety and episodes of rage which later on was diagnosed as complex post traumatic stress disorder or C-PTSD.
Maxene said she turned to therapy, yoga, meditation and prayer to help her heal.
Since the lockdown, the couple has been in Bali, Indonesia to continue yoga teacher training.
