Willie Revillame gave a cash aid of P100,000 to the family of Michelle Silvertino, the single mom who died after waiting for days for a bus ride home to Bicol during the lockdown.
Last June 5, 33-year-old Michelle who worked as a housemaid in Metro Manila was found unconscious at a footbridge in Pasay City and was later reported to be COVID-19 positive.
Upon learning of the unfortunate incident, TV host Willie Revillame through Wowowin offered to help the family of Michelle, especially the four kids — aged three to 11 years old — she left behind.
“Nakakabagbag-damdamin, nakakahabag po ng puso. Bakit ho nangyayari ito ngayon sa ating mga kababayan? Kawawa ‘yung mga anak na naiwan,” said Revillame.
The TV host reached out to the younger sister of Michelle to give the financial and educational assistance to the orphaned children.
“Gusto ko sanang makatulong, sa Wowowin, ang family na ito. Gusto kong magpadala ng pera sa inyo para pantawid sa hirap ng iyong mga pamangkin. Magpapadala ako ng pera P100,000 para sa pamilya niyo, para sa mga bata, para sa pagpapaaral nila,” Revillame said.
“Yung P100,000 na ipapadala ko sa inyo, kung sino man, ang pakiusap ko lang sana ibangko niyo para sa kinabuksan ng mga anak niya,” he added.
According to a STAR report, Michelle’s body was buried in a shallow grave at a public cemetery in Pasay.
The family of Michelle would also have to wait for three to five years to be able to bring her remains home due to the Sanitation Code of the Philippines, which does not allow the exhumation of a body immediately after burial.
