On Wednesday, OPM icon Rico Blanco uploaded a “quarantine version” of his hit song Liwanag sa Dilim to raise funds for COVID-19 frontliners.
His rendition of the loved song is in support of Safeguard’s BayaniHands, an initiative that aims to support frontliner efforts through Philippine Red Cross.
“Pagbibigay pugay ko na rin sa ating mga modern-day heroes,” he said referring to the country’s healthcare workers.
Early May, the singer dropped his song, This Too Shall Pass, as tribute to frontliners.
His song takes a closer look at how the pandemic has brought the entire world to a standstill.
To help fund the COVID-19 response in the country, the 47-year-old artist waived his artist royalties for the music video of the song. Sony Music Philippines will be donating 100 percent of the global proceeds to www.puhon.ph for the first six months of release.
