Women still struggle every day to get what they need whether it is for societal or retail concerns. Sa Pilipinas bibihira tayong makakita ng babae sa daan who is either riding a car, motorcycle or bicycle. At ang gawi pa ng karamihan ay i-shame at i-catcall ang mga Pinay na ang gusto lang naman eh magawa ang hobby na gustong-gusto nila without being called out for it.
Diyan nabuo ang The Litas. This international group made its way here in the Philippines through Gaki Azurin, ang drummer ng Flying Ipis Band and also a rising motorcycle vlogger through her YouTube page: GakiMoto, Erika Fernandez and Carol Karthe three years na ang nakakalipas. The Litas Manila focuses on gathering Pinays who share a love for two wheels and aims to shatter every stereotype there is in Pinays sharing the road.
While the acceptance of female riders sharing the road in the Philippines is still on the works, the group sees a great future ahead para sa safer and more liberated roads sa bansa. Ang idea na ito ay unti-unti nang tinatanggap sa Pilipinas and along with this are the hopes of the female riders for brands to bring more female-suitable gears in the country.
But for now, seeing how our country’s roads are not motorcycle or bicycle-friendly, The Litas Manila advises everyone to first learn in a safe environment, have proper training before heading out to the road by yourself at ‘wag na ‘wag magpapaturo lang sa kapit-bahay. Dahil according to Cal Soesanto, a member of The Litas Manila, “There’s no second-hand brains for sale in Lazada or OLX.”
Meron program si Motortrade na “Learn to Ride Safely” (https://www.facebook.com/learn2ridesafely/) for only P400 para sa mga gustong mag-aral ng tamang na traffic rules and regulations. Second, start off small. Tipikal sa mga Pinoy ang maliit ang height, so make sure na you get a ride na kayang-kaya mong abutin ‘yong sahig at light enough din to handle.
Motortrade’s showrooms allow you try out the fit of the motorcycles that are compatible with you.
Having no discipline risks you and everybody else who will share the road with you.
These ladies assure you that gaining that “kumpiyansa sa sarili’ will help you upgrade fast to your dream bike.
You can start trying to feel the road on your own, too, you can check out Motortrade’s Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/MotortradePh/ and http://motortrade.com.ph/ for your motorcycle needs.
