Former BIGBANG member Seungri has confirmed that he is legally married to his non-showbiz partner and that they are expecting a child together.
According to a report by Soompi, Seungri confirmed his marriage and his wife’s pregnancy amid reports that the couple is expecting a baby boy in January next year.
In response to the reports, Seungri told Ilgan Sports, “Since it is a private matter, I feel burdened to discuss details. My wife and I are, of course, legally married, and the claims that we married due to pregnancy is false.”
When asked about plans for a wedding ceremony, he said, “At present, I am not considering a wedding ceremony.”
The news comes amid reports that Seungri is facing a criminal complaint over allegations that he threatened a man with a soju bottle and assaulted him at a restaurant in Seoul. His camp has since denied the allegations.
Seungri, a former member of K-pop boy group BIGBANG, announced his retirement from the entertainment industry in 2019 after being involved in the high-profile Burning Sun scandal.
He was convicted of multiple charges, including gambling, arranging prostitution, embezzlement, and instigating aggravated assault. He was sentenced to 18 months in prison and was released in February 2023 after completing his sentence.
