“Diamond Star” Maricel Soriano and McCoy de Leon took home top acting honors at the 2026 FAMAS Awards, while Maris Racal made history as the first-ever recipient of its “Actress of Distinction” honor.
The films “In Thy Name” and “Quezon” emerged as the biggest winners of the night, bagging four awards each.
“In Thy Name” won Best Film, Best Director for Cesar Soriano, and Best Visual Effects, while de Leon took home the Best Actor award for his portrayal of Fr. Rhoel Gallardo in the biographical drama.
Meanwhile, “Quezon,” the third installment in Jerrold Tarog’s “Bayaniverse” trilogy, also secured four awards.
Mon Confiado and Karylle won Best Supporting Actor and Best Supporting Actress, while the film also received the awards for Best Cinematography and Best Editing.
Soriano, meanwhile, was named Best Actress for her performance in the family drama “Meet, Greet and Bye.”
However, it was Racal who made a historic mark at this year’s ceremony after becoming the first-ever recipient of the FAMAS “Actress of Distinction” award.
She received the recognition for her performance in “Sunshine,” which has also earned her multiple Best Actress honors from other award giving bodies.
The FAMAS recognition marked Racal’s fourth acting award for the film, bringing her closer to a sweep of major local film awards.
She previously received Best Actress honors at the Gawad Urian and the PMPC Star Awards for Movies, where she shared the recognition with Soriano.
“Sunshine” also earned recognition for its young star, Annika Co, who won Best Child Performer.
