Rap star Hev Abi brought his music to Quezon City Jail, performing some of his hit songs for his fellow inmates during the celebration of National Correctional Consciousness Week.
The OPM rapper, whose real name is Gabriel Abilla, was seen taking the stage in a video shared by the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) Quezon City Jail – Male Dormitory on Facebook.
In the short clip, Hev Abi performed his songs “Babaero” and “Alam Mo Ba Girl” alongside other persons deprived of liberty (PDLs). Representatives from the barangay, police, fire service, and church also participated in the event.
The artist was arrested in April, alongside with six people, over alleged violations of firearms and ammunition laws during Oplan Paglalansag Omega in Diliman, Quezon City. Authorities reportedly seized suspected illegal drugs and firearms during the operation.
Hev Abi is best known for his viral rap tracks, including “Para Sa Streets”, “Lil Kasalanan Shortie”, and “Makasarili Malambing”, among others.
