Doug Kramer and wife Cheska appeared to call for compassion and restraint amid the renewed controversy surrounding the latter’s brother, actor Patrick Garcia.
The couple shared a reflective message emphasizing forgiveness, grace and refusing to answer hurt with more hurt. Among its lines was: “Grace is needed both ways—we all hurt others, and we also feel pain.”
The post also urged people to “hold fast to your warmth and keep moving forward” and “refuse to return the sting,” ending with a call to let compassion “break the heavy chain.”
While the message did not mention Patrick, Jennylyn Mercado or the ongoing controversy by name, it comes as members of Patrick’s and Jennylyn’s families have publicly addressed the backlash following Patrick’s interview with Ogie Diaz.
Patrick, who had kept his side of his 2008 breakup with Jennylyn private for 18 years, said he decided to speak after his 13-year-old daughter, Michelle, became the target of online criticism. He denied abandoning Jennylyn during her pregnancy, while acknowledging that he was not present during that period. He also said he last saw their son, Alex Jazz, in 2017.
Jennylyn, meanwhile, has chosen not to publicly respond. Her agency, Aguila Entertainment, said she would not grant interviews about Patrick’s statements and appealed to the public to stop the hate directed at Patrick’s family, particularly Michelle.
The issue has also drawn statements from Nikka Garcia, Dennis Trillo and Star Magic, while Jennylyn’s manager Becky Aguila criticized Patrick’s decision to revisit the matter publicly.
