Kim Chiu appeared to subtly weigh in on the buzz surrounding her reported encounter with entertainment columnist Ogie Diaz by reposting a supporter’s message on X carrying the line, “Respect Begets Respect.”
The Kapamilya star did not issue a personal statement or add a caption to the repost, but fans were quick to read between the lines, with many believing it reflected her stance on the issue.
The repost also questioned why Ogie would expect a warm greeting from Kim despite his alleged criticisms of the actress in the past.
The online discussion stemmed from Ogie’s recent recollection of an encounter with Kim during the grand finals of “Tawag ng Tanghalan,” during an episode of his “Showbiz Updates” Youtube channel.
Ogie claimed he crossed paths with the actress at the ABS-CBN hallway while she was taking photos.
According to Ogie, they made eye contact and he expected at least a greeting, considering they had a little misunderstanding. However, he alleged that Kim instead remarked, “Buti pinapasok kayo.”
“Bakit bawal ba?” Ogie recalled asking, adding that his wife was also surprised by the exchange. “Pwede naman akong dedmahin. Bakit nag-dialogue ng ‘Buti pinapasok kayo,’” he said.
Despite sharing the anecdote, Ogie also suggested Kim may have simply been caught off guard, saying she could have spoken without fully meaning it.
Kim has yet to directly address Ogie’s claims beyond reposting the message on X, while Ogie has not publicly reacted to the actress’ repost as of writing.
The exchange has since sparked mixed reactions online, with some netizens siding with Kim and arguing that respect should go both ways, echoing the sentiment behind the now-viral phrase: “Respect Begets Respect.”
Meanwhile, Ogie brought up the encounter with Kim amid the backlash actress recently faced over her “Lotus Feet” joke about Eat Bulaga mainstay Ryzza Mae Dizon.
