Images and clips of their sighting at a mall in Makati City began circulating on January 31. Despite wearing a face mask, Kathryn was still recognized by onlookers who spotted her with the local chief executive.

The mall appearance drew attention as Kathryn and Mark have rarely been seen together in public. Neither has issued a statement regarding the rumored romance.
The pair were last reportedly seen at a fine dining restaurant in Makati in December. Romance rumors first surfaced in July 2024, when Alcala was linked to Bernardo as a rumored suitor.
