BLACKPINK has once again made history at the 2025 MTV Video Music Awards, becoming the most awarded K-pop girl group in VMA history.

At the recently held awards show that took place on September 7, 2025 in New York City, BLACKPINK won the “Group of the Year” award for the second time which is a first for any female K-pop act to do so.

Member Lisa also secured her third “Best K-Pop” win, this time for “Born Again,” her collaboration with Doja Cat and Raye.

Rosé also earned her first-ever solo VMA this year, winning “Song of the Year” for her viral hit “APT” with Bruno Mars.

The journey started in 2020, when the group made history as the first female K-pop act to win at the VMAs for their viral hit “How You Like That” that bagged “Song of Summer 2020.”

In 2022, they took home “Best Metaverse Performance” for “BLACKPINK: The Virtual” concert in PUBG Mobile.

Then in 2023, BLACKPINK earned another award for their fierce performance in “Pink Venom” that won “Best Choreography.” And that same night, the group became the very first K-pop female act to win “Group of the Year,” breaking the 24-year streak of TLC since they last claimed the title in 1999.

This year, they repeated that feat, making history again as the first female K-pop act to win “Group of the Year” twice.

The members’ solo acts also contributed to the group’s dominance at the VMAs. Lisa has become a three-time “Best K-Pop” winner. In 2022, she became the very first K-pop soloist to win at the VMAs when she won “Best K-pop” for her album “Lalisa,” then in 2024 for “Rockstar.”

BLACKPINK currently holds five VMAs as a group and four for their solo acts which serves as a proof of their legacy in the global music scene.
