Rica Peralejo makes acting comeback in upcoming MMFF crime-drama film ‘Manila’s Finest’

Actress Rica Peralejo is returning to the big screen after years away from showbiz, starring in the upcoming Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) 2025 “Manila’s Finest” alongside Piolo Pascual.

Peralejo confirmed the news through photos and videos from their table read session and story conference, which she shared on Instagram on Sunday.

“All I can say is that I am just as surprised as all of you. But I guess if it’s for you, it’s for you. My prayer is that everything will be like riding a bike — once you know, you’ll always know,” her caption read.

One of the photos showed her walking into the table-read room, which she captioned as “me re-entering rooms I thought I’d never enter again in my life.”

“It’s been years since I read a movie script. Yet it didn’t feel strange,” she wrote, reflecting on her return to acting.

In another photo with Pascual, she shared that the actor played a “big part” in her decision to take on the project. She also met rising actor Cedrik Juan during the event, saying the encounter made her realize how much she “missed the craft.”

Peralejo also shared her mother’s reaction who was overjoyed with her comeback, “My mother turned 80 this year and I told her she has another gift from me. Being my #1 fan and believer, she was deliriously happy to know I am again appearing on the big screen.”

Set to premiere this December, Manila’s Finest will be directed by Rae Red and will also star Enrique Gil, Ariel Rivera, Jasmine Curtis-Smith, Joey Marquez, Romnick Sarmienta, Kiko Estrada, Dylan Menor, and Ashtine Olviga, among others.
