Pokwang eyes legal action after fans hit her ‘be humble’ advice to Fyang Smith

Comedienne Pokwang’s advice to Pinoy Big Brother: Gen 11 Big Winner Sofia “Fyang” Smith to “be humble,” following the latter’s alleged boasting about her season’s batch, didn’t sit well with fans.

The controversy began when a clip of Fyang at a fan event circulated, where she confidently claimed that no other PBB batch could match theirs.

“Alam niyo, kahit ilang batch pa ‘yan, walang makakatalo sa batch namin. Hello, Gen 11? Breaking, highest [concurrent views], hello?,” Fyang said in the clip posted on the Facebook page “Circle of Stars”.

Fyang’s remarks reportedly began to spread online just before the finale of the PBB’s most recent season, Celebrity Collab Edition, which made history by hailing two housemates from ABS-CBN and GMA Network, Brent Manalo and Mika Salamanca as its winning duo.

Using her official Facebook account, Pokwang chimed in through the comment section, offering unsolicited advice to the reality champion, “My God iha 21 years na ako sa showbiz at ang sikreto BE HUMBLE iha ‘yan muna ang pagaralan naka ilang PBB season na ang nasaksihan ko pero iilan nalang silang active sa showbiz so iha please ‘wag muna magyabang bad ‘yan.”

Fyang’s fans quickly came to her defense, claiming the video was taken as early as April and that the part where the rising star said she was only joking had been cut out.

Indeed, the latter part of the video was also posted on the page with Fyang explaining her statement to the audience.

“Hindi, joke lang. Kaya walang makakatalo sa batch namin kasi lahat kami very genuine, very authentic. Akala nga namin walang nanonood, kaya lahat kami ganun mga ugali namin, di ba, pagpasensiyahan niyo na.

“Well, para sa amin lang yun na walang [makakatalo], siyempre batch namin yun e.”

On the other hand, an X user urged Fyang fans not to take Pokwang’s comments too seriously, saying the showbiz world is small and there’s a chance they’ll eventually meet and get to know each other.

Pokwang responded in agreement, sharing her gratitude for having worked with some of the industry’s most celebrated names, mentioning Nadine Lustre, Marian Rivera, Vilma Santos, John Lloyd Cruz, Claudine Barretto, Vic Sotto, and Judy Ann Santos and more, before her career slowed down.

“May chance sabi n’yo nga maliit ang mundo, tama… buti nalang bago ako nalaos nakatrabaho ko lahat ng malalaking names sa industriya. Sarap malaos kapag gan’yan mga nakawork mo,” she stressed.

However, tension escalated further when some netizens allegedly hurled insults not just at Pokwang but also at her young daughter, Malia which the actress did not take lightly.

“‘Yung mga fans ni Fyang sobrang pagmamahal na pati si Malia, anak ko, wish pa ng ‘di maganda! Na-screenshot ko na para kasuhan,” Pokwang posted on X.

In a separate post, Pokwang clarified that not all the bashers were truly Fyang supporters, claiming some were fake troll accounts.

“Ok lang ‘yan! ‘Yung ibang bashers hindi naman fan ni Fyang ‘yon, mga bayarang trolls sila at kilala ko ang admin niyan, wag ako dai! Hahahahahaha,” she added.

Smith has yet to react to the issue, as of writing.
