Two-day public viewing set for Nora Aunor before burial at Libingan ng mga Bayani

A two-day public viewing will be held for National Artist Nora Aunor, who died on April 16, before her remains are laid to rest at the Libingan ng mga Bayani.

According to a statement released by her bereaved family, a private wake and Mass for family and friends will take place from April 17 to 21 at Chapel 7 of The Chapels in Heritage Park.

Fans and supporters may pay their final respects to the film legend also dubbed as the Superstar during the public viewing on April 19 and 20, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The late actress, who was also affectionately called “Ate Guy,” will be laid to rest at the Libingan ng mga Bayani during a state funeral on April 22.

In recognition of her numerous accolades and contributions to the Philippine entertainment industry, Nora was named National Artist for Film and Broadcast Arts in 2022, alongside veteran screenwriter Ricky Lee and the late filmmaker Marilou Diaz-Abaya, through Proclamation No. 1390 signed by former President Rodrigo Duterte.

President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos extended his condolences to the actress’ family and fans in an official statement.

“I join the nation in mourning the passing of our National Artist for Film, Nora Aunor (Nora Cabaltera Villamayor in real life). Throughout her splendid career that spanned more than 50 years, she was our consummate actress, singer, and film producer,” he said.

“I offer my heartfelt condolences to Nora Aunor’s family, friends, and the film industry itself. Let us pray together for the eternal repose of the soul of our beloved National Artist,” Marcos added.
