A video of former actress Marjorie Barretto where she was seen wearing ear protection has resurfaced following her revelation that she had an eardrum injury due to alleged physical abuse by her ex-husband, Dennis Padilla.
The video, originally posted on Marjorie’s Boracay vlog on YouTube in 2022, shows the celebrity mom preparing to go for a swim.
In a conversation with her son Leon, who was recording the vlog, Marjorie showed her left ear to the camera, mentioning that she needed ear protection before swimming.
“So my ear, I need an ear plug,” Marjorie said, laughing.
Leon responded, “We can’t tell you why.”
“We can’t tell you why, it’s another interview,” Marjorie replied, before both laughed in unison.
The video resurfaced after Marjorie’s recent interview with showbiz insider Ogie Diaz, where she revealed that Dennis was “physically abusive” to her during their time together.
The “worst” experience she recalled was when Dennis allegedly struck her hard from behind, causing her to lose her eardrum, just days after she gave birth to their firstborn, Julia.
Marjorie recounted: “Julia was a few days old, kakapanganak ko pa lang sa kanya. Galit siya sa ‘kin. Parang I complained about something. Naglalakad ako papasok ng kwarto. From the back, he hit me so hard in my ear, ang laking tao ni Dennis ha. Lumipad talaga ako, kasi hindi ka nakailag, eh, di ba? Talagang nawala ‘yung eardrum ko.”
Marjorie said she needed surgery because of the injury and still deals with the effects today.
“Every time my kids see that, they’re reminded of what their father did. Dennis has an explosive temper,” Marjorie said of her ex-husband.
Marjorie and Dennis’ marriage was annulled in 2009, with Marjorie stating that the actor never filed for joint custody of their children.
Marjorie has chosen to speak up following Dennis’ recent remarks about their children regarding the alleged “mistreatment” he experienced during their daughter Claudia’s intimate wedding.
The celebrity mom broke her silence to address and refute Dennis’ claims against her and their children.
