‘Meteor Garden’ stars, local celebs mourn death of Barbie Hsu

The cast of the “Meteor Garden” fame have taken to social media to mourn the passing of Barbie Hsu. 

Hsu died on February 2, 2025 due to influenza-induced pneumonia while on a family trip to Japan.

Jerry Yan, Hsu’s leading man in the series, remember the late actress, expressed gratitude for their shared memories together. 

 “Thankful for meeting you. In your carefree childlike years, you used to say, treat every day as if it were your last. To have a good time. May this time you walk slowly. From now on, in another world, there will be no troubles and the years will be peaceful,” Yan wrote on Weibo as translated to English.

Ken Chu, who played Xi Men, first posted a black image before sharing a throwback group photo with Hsu (Shan Cai) and their co-stars Yan (Dao Ming Si), Vaness Wu (Mei Zu), Vic Chou (Hua Ze Lei). 

Meanwhile, Rainie Yang who starred as Xiao You, Shan Cai’s best friend, also honored in an Instagram story.

“Xiyuan, thank you. I will miss you forever and love you,” Yang wrote, using Hsu’s Mandarin name. 

On the other hand, Filipino celebrities such as Alex Gonzaga, Kim Chiu, and Louise Delos Reyes, also expressed their sorrow over Hsu’s passing, recalling their fondest memories of watching the actress in her iconic portrayal as Shan Cai.
