Blackpink’s Jisoo, Park Jeong Min unite in Korean zombie apocalypse series ‘Newtopia’

-

Prime Video has announced the release of “Newtopia,” a Korean zombie apocalypse series starring award-winning Korean actor Park Jeong-min and K-pop star Jisoo of BLACKPINK.

The series will premiere on February 7, 2025, in the Philippines and over 240 countries and territories, excluding Korea.

“Newtopia” follows the gripping journey of Lee Jae-yoon (Park Jeong-min), a soldier serving his compulsory military service, and his girlfriend Kang Young-joo (Jisoo). Amid a zombie outbreak in Seoul, the two must navigate the chaos to find each other while battling the infected and facing unimaginable challenges.

Park Jeong-min rose to fame with his 2011 debut in the coming-of-age drama film “Bleak Night”. He has since earned prestigious accolades, including “Best New Actor” for the 2016 period film “Dongju: The Portrait of a Poet” and “Best Supporting Actor” for the 2020 action film “Deliver Us From Evil” at both the Baeksang Arts Awards and the Blue Dragon Film Awards.

Meanwhile, Jisoo previously appeared in the 2015 comedy-drama series “The Producer” and 2019 fantasy series “Arthdal Chronicles”, and recently took on a lead role in the romantic drama “Snowdrop” alongside Korean actor Jung Hae-In.

Last February, Jisoo became the latest BLACKPINK member to launch her personal management label, named “BLISSOO”, following the footsteps of fellow members Jennie and Lisa.

The upcoming zombie drama will start airing its episodes from February 7 to March 21, 2025.
