This story proves that in a world of red flags, there are still guys who would prove how much he loves you.
In a viral video on social media, Jodel Talabis captured the moment when he visited his girlfriend’s parents to ask their permission before proposing to their unica hija.
“Hindi po nila alam na magpapaalam ako sa kanila. Parang pumunta po ako do’n kasi may inutos po si Danica, sakto naman po na para may rason na po pumunta sa kanila para hindi po siya mag-expect. Sa pagpapaalam po, naiyak po ako kasi na-touch po ako kung gaano nila kamahal ‘yung unica hija nila. Blessed po ako sa kanila, as my future in laws, kasi parang una pa lang po tinanggap na nila po ako na parang anak po nila,” Jodel told The Philippine STAR.
In the video, Jodel became emotional when Danica’s parents did not reject the idea of them getting married and gave their 100% support to their relationship.
“Walang problema sa amin ‘yun. Basta mahal ka ng anak ko. Huwag mong lolokohin ang anak ko. Talagang ako ang unang iiyak sa inyong dalawa. Unica hija ko lang iyan,” Danica’s parents said.
When Danica watched the video, she said she was touched by the reaction of her parents.
“Nung umiyak po ‘yung mommy ko, naiyak na rin po ako.’Yung parents ko po talaga, hindi sila ‘yung mga tipo ng parents na expressive sa mga anak nila. Do’n ko lang din nakita kung gaano nila ako pinahahalagahan and kung gaano nila ako kamahal as their only daughter, nakaka-touch,” she said.
For Jodel, he wanted to be traditional in meeting his girlfriend’s parents before proposing to her. Danica said that she did not expect that Jodel would propose this early.
“Super nagulat talaga ako, surprised talaga kasi ‘yung celebration talaga that time ‘yung sa anak ng kapatid ni Jodel, first birthday nung baby. Never ko naman in-expect na magpo-propose siya nung time na ‘yon. Napapag-usapan namin before is parang is at the age of 27, magpo-propose siya. Eh 25 years old pa lang namin kami nun so nung time talaga na ‘yun hindi ako nag-eexpect,” she noted.
Danica and Jodel are both engineers by profession. They first met in 2021 after working in the same company in Batangas. Their relationship became official on July 23, 2021.
“Love at first sight po. Bale ‘pag outgoing po siya sa work tapos ako naman is papasok so nagkasalubong po kami. From the first time na nakita ko po talaga siya, I fell in love,” Jodel recalled.
“Sa same company po kami nagwo-work pero hindi po kami same ng department nakikita-kita niya po ako sa work hanggang sa nagpakilala po siya sa’kin. Nagsabi na po siya ng intention niya na gusto niya pong manligaw sa’kin, na seryoso po siya. Samin pong magkakapatid, nag-iisa lang po akong babae, so parang first time po ng parents ko na ma-experience na merong nanliligaw sa anak nila,” Danica added.
After three years, Jodel decided to propose to Danica. “Sa kanya ko nakita ‘yung future po kasi parang she is more than our arguments po. Nasakto naman po siya na umuwi ‘yung kapatid ko from Dubai so nag-chat po ako sa kanya, sabi ko, “Kuya, bili mo naman ako singsing dyan.”
For those who are getting impatient in finding “the one,” Jodel and Danica have a message: “Just be patient and be the partner you wish to have. Before you enter a relationship dapat buo ka sa sarili mo para buo ‘yung mai-offer mo sa partner mo in the future po.Bukod sa date to marry, kailangan po huwag talagang hanapin ‘yung love kasi kusang darating po siya.”
