Best of Philippine TV honored at the 37th PMPC Star Awards

The 37th PMPC Star Awards for Television celebrated excellence in Philippine television, recognizing the most outstanding programs and TV stars at a ceremony held on Sunday, August 24, 2025, at the VS Hotel Convention Center in Quezon City.

From news and drama to comedy and documentary GMA 7’s dominance was undeniable. The network was named Best TV Station and also bagged various awards for 24 Oras (Best News Program), Magpakailanman (Best Drama Anthology), Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho (Best Magazine Show), Unang Hirit (Best Morning Show) and Pepito Manaloto (Best Comedy Show).

The Kapuso network also excelled in dramas and TV Series, with Maria Clara at Ibarra winning Best Primetime TV Series and Abot Kamay na Pangarap as the Best Daytime Drama.

In acting categories, Joshua Garcia was named as the Best Drama Actor for his phenomenal performance in Unbreak My Heart, while Royal Blood lead Rhian Ramos took home Best Drama Actress. 

Joshua delivered a heartfelt speech thanking everyone who supported him towards his triumph.

“Maraming-maraming salamat, una sa Panginoon, and to my family and friends, sa ABS-CBN, sa GMA… sa Star Magic, and of course sa nagtiwala sa akin at nagbigay sa akin ng role na ‘to, kay Sir Deo Endrinal.

He also thanked his co-actors Jodi Sta. Maria and Gabbi Garcia as well as the whole team of Unbreak My Heart to whom he dedicated the award to.

Rhian also expressed her gratitude towards her home network, GMA 7.

“I would like to dedicate this to my home network, GMA 7, to whom I have dedicated 19 years of my life, and I will continue to dedicate every good thing that comes to me. Thank you so much, GMA, for the trust in me.”

She also thanked her partner, Sam Versoza, for all the encouragement and words of assurance.

Alden Richards and Rochelle Pangilinan, earned Best Single Performance by an Actor and Actress for their performance in Magpakailanman. Respectively, Elijah Canlas (Senior High) and Cherry Pie Picache (FPJ’s Batang Quiapo) were honored as Best Drama Supporting Actor and Actress, while child star Euwenn Mikael (The Write One) shone as Best Child Performer.

On the lighter side, Paolo Contis and Chariz Solomon of Bubble Gang won Best Comedy Actor and Actress. It’s Showtime bagged Best Variety Show, with Kim Chiu as Best Female TV Host. And for Best Male TV Host, Robi Domingo (ASAP Natin ’To) shared honors with Paolo Ballesteros (E.A.T.).

Documentary and public affairs were equally honored, with The Atom Araullo Specials taking Best Documentary Program and the hosts of I-Witness winning Best Documentary Program Hosts. Wish Ko Lang (Best Public Service Program) and Best Celebrity Talk Show (Fast Talk With Boy Abunda) with Boy Abunda winning as the Best Celebrity Talk Show Host

The PMPC paid tribute to the pillars that shaped Philippine television with the Ading Fernando Lifetime Achievement Award, presented to veteran actress Caridad Sanchez, host Ariel Ureta, dance icon Geleen Eugenio, and TV executive Malou Choa Fagar. Broadcaster Angelique Lazo received the Excellence in Broadcasting Lifetime Achievement Award. While loveteams Barbie Forteza and David Licauco (Maria Clara at Ibarra and Maging Sino Ka Man) and Francine Diaz and Seth Fedelin (Dirty Linen) were honored with the German Moreno Power Tandem Award.

Before the night concluded, Joshua Garcia and Rhian Ramos were hailed as Faces of the Night, while Garcia and Rochelle Pangilinan were also named Celebrities of the Night. Rhian Ramos along with her partner, Sam Versoza were hailed as the Female and Male TV Stars of the Year marking a moment where the two received an award together in the industry.

For PMPC President Mell T. Navarro, the night was more than just about trophies, 

“Ang aming mainit na pagbati sa lahat ng mga nagsipagwagi. Nawa’y magsilbing inspirasyon ang mga naiuwi ninyong karangalan,” Navarro said, underscoring the awards’ mission to inspire excellence in the industry.

With all the awards, heartfelt speeches from winners, and tributes to icons who shaped Philippine television, the 37th PMPC Star Awards proved that the small screen remains a powerful stage for artistry, storytelling, and national connection.
