The cast of the 1990s teen drama series T.G.I.S. (Thank God It’s Sabado) paid tribute to former matinee idol Rodwick “Red” Sternberg following his passing on May 27.

Bobby Andrews, one of Red’s closest friends in the industry, took to Instagram to mourn the loss of someone he considered a brother.

“Red was one of my closest friends in showbiz—we started together, learned the ropes side by side, and stayed close even when he moved abroad,” he wrote, alongside throwback photos of them together.

“He was the kind of person who could thrive anywhere, adapt to anything, and still stay true to himself. Generous, loyal, and real,” Bobby continued.

“I’ll miss his presence, his humor, his heart. Thank you for the friendship, brother. Rest easy.”

Red’s former loveteam partner, Rica Peralejo, also honored him on Instagram Stories by sharing a screenshot from a scene where they played Kiko and Mitch.

“Sino [nang] partner ng Mitchie mo?,” she wrote in the caption.

“Super sad [crying emoji]. [Of course] Red is Michelle’s Kiko and we will always be good friends! Our entire barkada is devastated,” she said a subsequent Instagram story.

T.G.I.S. director Mark A. Reyes paid tribute as well, posting on Instagram: “The entire T.G.I.S Barkada is heartbroken to lose one of our own. We just confirmed with Red’s wife @sandysternberg of his passing a few days ago. Their family requests privacy at this time and your kind understanding as they navigate this sudden passing of Red. Kiko, we love you and we’re giving you a group hug right now.”

Other cast members, including Michael Flores, Angelu de Leon, Ciara Sotto, also shared tributes on social media.

In an Instagram Story, Michael noted that Red’s final post on his feed last month was a group photo from the T.G.I.S. set.

T.G.I.S., which premiered in August 1995, is set to celebrate its 30th anniversary this year.
