The mother of “King of Talk” Boy Abunda has passed away. Licerna “Lesing” Romerica Abunda was 90 years old.
Eastern Samar congresswoman Maria Fe Abunda, the host’s sister, announced the unfortunate news in a Facebook post early today. Lesing, who was Boy’s inspiration for setting up the Make Your Nanay Proud foundation, died on Sunday, December 1, the post said.
Last October, the veteran host announced on his talk show The Bottomline that his mother had been in the hospital for two weeks.
“She’s the center of my life and I hope she’s not suffering,” he said when asked about his mother’s condition at the time.
Boy turned emotional after recalling how his father died. He admitted to working hard so that his mother will not suffer the same way.
“I don’t know how I’m going to live my life without the presence of my mother pero katulad ng mga sugal sa buhay ko, susuungin because that’s the only way,” he said.
