Piers Morgan gives shoutout to ‘amazing number’ of Filipino frontliners at UK health services

British TV personality Piers Morgan gave a special shoutout to Filipino healthcare workers who are on the frontlines of the battle against the COVID-19 pandemic in the United Kingdom.

In the Tuesday episode of the morning program Good Morning Britain, Morgan paid tribute to the Filipino frontliners for “doing an amazing job”.

The TV presenter was amazed to know that the friends of a Pinay who works for him are all working at Britain’s National Health Service (NHS).

He then proceeded to read a list of the names of Filipina nurses, including those rendering service at the St. Thomas’ Hospital in London, where the UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson is being treated for COVID-19.

“I’m just going to say them because we forget about this extraordinary workforce that comes from all around the world to help the NHS and I just want to give them a little shoutout,” Morgan said.

“An amazing number of Filipinos work in our NHS and unsung heroes like so many but I just wanted to give them a shoutout right now. Just outstanding care,” he further said.

According to Morgan, it’s worth bearing in mind that these immigrants are saving lives in the UK.

“Coming here and actually enriching our country and doing an amazing job,” he added.

He also took the time to thank Filipinos and other immigrants who carry on with their duties to serve as frontliners in the nation’s battle against the pandemic.

“So thank you to all the Filipinos who are here and to every other immigrant who works in the NHS currently and I hope at the end of this we have perhaps a different sentiment and a different feeling about what immigration has done for this country.”

UK currently has 51,608 confirmed cases with 5,373 deaths and 135 recoveries.
