The newly appointed Philippine Red Cross ambassador Catriona Gray shared on social media her “simple yet meaningful act of saving lives.”
On Instagram, Catriona encouraged her 10.4 million followers to be a hero and donate blood.
“During my visit to the Philippine Red Cross headquarters, I did a simple yet meaningful act of saving lives — donating blood,” she wrote.
“Donating your blood to someone in need may just be one of the easiest ways to save a life. Because of people’s hesitancy to visit blood banks during the pandemic, our supplies are worryingly low,” she explained.
Just last week, the Miss Universe 2018 was appointed as the humanitarian organization’s ambassador. Chairman and CEO of Red Cross, Sen. Richard Gordon, said Catriona is the perfect advocate to show the public that there is a “silver lining” amid the pandemic.
The Philippine Red Cross said Catriona’s duties as an ambassador include spreading awareness and more knowledge on how to fight COVID-19.
Catriona shared that she will use her position to call for more blood donations.
