Veteran broadcast journalist Raffy Tulfo, regarded the most subscribed Pinoy celebrity on YouTube, recently revealed how and where he is spending the money he makes on YouTube.
According to the TV personality himself, his Raffy Tulfo in Action YouTube channel has the highest number of subscribers to date with over 15 million, followed by siblings Ranz Kyle (13 million) and Niana Guerrero (12 million).
Tulfo, however, has not confirmed how much he earns from YouTube, but a report by ABS-CBN’s Push said that he has so far made P2.1 billion on the platform.
Social Blade, an international website that tracks social media statistics and analytics, showed that Tulfo’s YouTube channel’s estimated yearly earnings range from $1.1M to $17.2M or around P53,179,500 to P831,706,000.
The statistics also showed that the channel has already amassed over seven billion views from its 5,041 video uploads.
During a recent virtual presscon for TV5’s newest primetime Frontine Pilipinas, Tulfo disclosed that a big portion of the money goes out to helping the less fortunate people.
“Malaking portion po nun ay ipinangtutulong natin sa mga kababayan natin. So, may pinunupuntahan naman po, para doon sa mga nangangailangan,” said Tulfo.
The news anchor also detailed that a part of his YouTube earnings goes to his own expenses and his family.
“And then, of course, meron ding parte doon na nagagamit ko. I’ll be lying pag sabihin kong lahat napupunta 100 percent doon sa tulong. Meron din pong napupunta sa akin, sa pangangailangan ko, sa pamilya ko. Pero a big chunk of that money goes to helping the poor, lalo na,” he said.
Asked about the “secret” to his huge online following, Tulfo stressed the importance of credibility and sincerity.
“Kaya ako nagkaroon ng maraming subscribers because through the years, I was able to establish my credibility to them na kapag ako’y nagbibigay ng serbisyong publiko, and I really mean it and I’m very sincere in helping them, na hindi yung pakitang tao lamang.”
He added, “Malalaman naman kasi ng mga viewers, malalaman naman kasi ng mga complainants kung ikaw ay namemeke lang o kung ikaw talaga ay tunay ang iyong pagtulong. So, in my case, nakita nila na talagang legit yung aking ginagawang pagtulong kaya dinadagsa nila yung aming action center.”
Launched in 2016, Tulfo’s YouTube channel is affiliated with his TV programs such as Raffy Tulfo In Action, Idol in Action, and Wanted sa Radyo, establishing a reputation for listening to and acting on certain complaints from ordinary citizens.
Meanwhile, TV5 recently launched Frontline Pilipinas, an evening newscast, which will be hosted by Tulfo alongside Luchi Cruz-Valdes, Cheryl Cosim, Ed Lingao and Lourd de Veyra.
