Darren Espanto has once again spoken up on the recurring rumor that he’s gay.
The Kapamilya singer addressed the matter in his “real talk” with close friend and fellow Kapamilya star Kyle Echarri in the latter’s vlog, wherein Darren was asked “something that he has been bashed for so long.”
“I’ve addressed this so many, actually not so many times, but like a lot of people are like ‘Oh, bakla yan’ kasi ever since The Voice Kids, when I started singing songs that are always for girls or like I have a high voice, in general, they always assume my sexual preference pretty much,” said Darren.
He then proceeded to quash rumors about his sexual preference.
“But I’d like to let everyone know that I’m straight,” clarified Darren.
“I’ve addressed this before, but the thing is always parang wala na silang ibang mahanap. So kapag bored sila sasabihin nilang ‘Ah bakla ‘yan’,” he added.
Asked about how he deals with his bashers, Darren replied: “I just don’t mind them.”
Darren went on to say that criticisms are part of their line of work: “We’re always gonna run into people like that, especially bashers kasama ‘yan sa mundo ng showbiz and all that. So, I personally don’t mind them.”
“I know na wala naman silang ibang mas magandang ginagawa sa buhay kesa sa akin. That’s pretty much it. Who cares about them?” he added.
Darren earlier denied the gay rumors in 2016, saying he knows himself more than anyone else.
He joined talent show The Voice Kids Philippines in 2014, finishing as runner-up to Lyca Gairanod.
